WHY WE EXISt
The UWC strives to further cultural understanding and educational interests, while creating a community of women seeking friends, enrichment, mentors, and immersion in Buenos Aires. Our purpose is “friendship and learning through the universal mind.” For over eighty years, the Members’ global perspective and local commitment have given the Club its unique blend of internationalism rooted in the culture of Argentina.

Who we are
Members are English-speaking women who have studied at an accredited university, college, or institution of higher learning. The UWC membership boasts citizens from over fifteen countries, published writers, devoted mothers, groundbreaking scientists, sincere friends, acclaimed artists, international businesswomen, temporary and permanent residents of Buenos Aires, community development leaders, and accomplished women from many additional fields. What unites us is our intellectual curiosity, our cultural understanding, and our desire to connect with and contribute to others. While the Club’s activities are conducted in English, we are a multi-lingual group.

WHAT WE DO
The keystone of the Club activity is the monthly luncheon that features a highly engaging guest speaker, as well as lively conversation in English among members and their invitees over a delicious meal. Complementing the luncheons are social events and study groups on a variety of topics, including arts, culture, politics, literature, current events, and personal development.

Monthly Luncheons
We meet the third Tuesday of each month from March to November to learn from a guest speaker, while sharing a meal overly enjoyable and interesting conversation with fellow Members and guests.
Continuing Education
Since we are always seeking to increase our knowledge and understanding, we have regular seminar style workshops with invited speakers on diverse topics in small group settings.
Activities
Since our Members have diverse interests and skills, we have a vast array of activities in the arts and music, current affairs and politics, self-improvement and languages, literature and writing, and more.
Community Impact
As a social organization, we have a strong commitment to creating impact in our local and global communities, and we carry out distinct projects and initiatives that are led by club Members.
