Watch the Orquesta’s performance during the May luncheon:

The Orquesta de los Barrios has had a very busy schedule this month. Those who attended the May 16th luncheon whether in person or virtually had the special treat of listening to the performance of a string quartet from the orchestra (Victoria Ramos and Dafne Pugliese on the violin, Michelle Olivera on the cello and Silvana Alvarengo on the doble bass), including a short piece by Chopin in honour of this month’s speaker, Aleksandra María Piatkowska, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Argentina.

In addition to each musician continuing with their various studies, the orchestra was selected to perform the British national anthem at the coronation event held on May 6th in the Residence of the British Ambassador to Argentina (read the article here) and invited to play the European and Argentinean national anthems at the Europe Day celebrations on May 9th (read articles here and here).  As you will appreciate from the photos below, the musicians were warmly received on both occasions.

On this coming May 19th the orchestra is offering its first concert full concert of the year at the BAC (British Arts Centre) playing a programme of classical music featuring Juan Casirini on the piano. A mere 8 years of age, Juan is the newest member of the orchestra, a delightful and talented addition. Please do come and enjoy the music and be part of the enthusiastic audience!
