The Orquesta de los Barrios has been busy these last months. Here is a list of dates they have performed and pictures of each. News on individual musicians is also included. Such a talented group.
Monday, October 3rd
Concert at Salón Dorado de la Legislatura Porteña (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires). After a beautiful concert and praiseworthy speeches by the authorities, Fundación Noble donated a violin to Alexis Apaza, who did not have one of his own.
Thursday, October 20
A unique event bringing together Dr. Bernice González and the Orquesta de los Barrios at Fundación Nicolas García Uriburu. After a talk by Dr. González on “Current Trends in Women´s Medicine: The Role of Hormones”, Orquesta de los Barrios gave a performance in appreciation of Dr. González´ generous donations. Following the performance, we had a tour of the artist´s atelier and lastly sat for refreshments and a lively conversation among ourselves and with the musicians.
As later commented by UWC member Deidre Malone, this was such a beautiful event in a magical place, full of nostalgia from the numerous caminos of an artist who cared so much about the future. Imagine his delight in seeing and hearing so many young musicians being helped along their own caminos through the support they are receiving from the UWC community and other sponsors.

Vicky in Paris
At the beginning of October, violinist Victoria Ramos of the Orquestra de los Barrios together with another student departed for a two-month scholarship to study violin under a well-known violinist in Paris. They are having a fantastic experience there. They praise the quality of the violin tuition, the comfort of the apartment in which they live within the Maison de l´Argentine at the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris and the support of the Ambassador, who heard of them through Azul García Uriburu. The very latest news is that the possibility is now being considered of Vicky continuing her studies for one more year at an excellent conservatory in France.

Thursday, November 24 to Sunday, November 26
AACI – Suipacha 1333, CABA. The orchestra played music from the featured films.
Beyond the formal concerts organized by Amigos de la Orquesta, individual members of the orchestra have performed in public places and in private events on several occasions.
Maestro Nestor Tedesco’s unflagging dedication to the orchestra becomes more evident with every new performance; he continues to give his all and is extremely skillful at challenging each individual musician, including the very youngest ones in his “semillero” group, to study and perform to the maximum of their ability.
