Book Club Meeting Notes
The UWC Book Club met on Tuesday August 13 at the new home of Pamela Ferguson. Present were Maria Ines Alvarez, Barbara Wollak, Liliana Dufour, Maria Elena Arias, and the host. The book under discussion was “The Only Story” by Julian Barnes, a novel centering on the love affair between a young university undergraduate and an older married woman. The love affair commences during the summer
break from university when the young student was visiting his parents in a suburb of London.
The novel is intense, very true to life and unusual in its denouement.
The meeting broke up around 6 PM. The book for the next meeting will be chosen during the course of the next few weeks. The venue will be the home of Marta Donadeu and the date,
the second Tuesday of November.
