CV of the Speaker
Amador Sánchez Rico was born on the 28th of April 1973 in Madrid (Spain), and has been the Ambassador of the European Union in Argentina since the 1st of September 2021.
He completed his studies at the Saint Thomas d’Aquin School (France) and obtained a double bachelor in Law in 1997 by the University of País Vasco (Spain) and the University of Montpellier (France). He completed his academic training with a Master's degree in International Relations and European Law, with a doctoral thesis, at the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve (Belgium).
Prior to his appointment as Ambassador of the European Union in Argentina, he was responsible for Communication at the European External Action Service (Belgium) and General Director of Communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain. In this capacity, he served as Spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell.
Likewise, he served as Political Advisor to the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico (2013/2017) and to the UN, in New York (2009/2013).
Between 2006 and 2009, he was Desk Officer for West Africa at the European Commission (Brussels).
From 1999 to 2004, he was a Cabinet Member and Spokesperson for the Vice President of the European Commission, Loyola de Palacio (Brussels).
In his diplomatic work, he has stood out especially in the area of communication, human rights and multilateralism.
