Luncheon Announcement
Cowboy spurs and hats are welcome at the Pur Sang club in November when you will be treated to country music by the Country Knights. Country music can be traced back to original folk music sung by black people on the plantations of southern USA. Later on Nashville, Tennessee became the country music capital. As the music evolved, it moved further south and west and different flavors and genres were added. Today most singers and musicians are white with a few exceptions. In the 1990’s there was a revival of country music and many college students at that time enjoyed the simple, haunting songs by Jonny Cash and Patsy Cline, among others.
Our program consists of two musicians and one singer: Henry Donati is a multi-instrumentalist, Lucas Ferrari is a jazz musician and Dixie July is the vocalist. They will offer country classics covering different styles within the genre.
