At the first Book Club meeting of 2023, we will be discussing The Magician by Colm Tolbin.

The subject of the novel is the well-known author Thomas Mann.

This is an engrossing account of his life as a writer, his family and the events in his long and enthralling life.

He is the author of The Magic Mountain, Budenbrooks and Death in Venice. Several of his novels have been adapted to the screen.

His life from 1891 until the 1950's encompassed all the changes in Europe including two world wars in Europe.
