Our next Continuing Education meeting will be Thursday, April 13th, at 10:30 am (note the earlier time than usual!). This talk will be virtual, as our guest speaker will be speaking to us from Oxford, England, and Melodye will be hosting from Whitefish, Montana.
Our speaker will be Rosanne Bostock, and her topic will be “Once Upon a Time in Australia".
Rosanne is the founder of OxClean, an initiative to educate and clean up the city of Oxford. She started OxClean in 2006, and it grew into a school program as well as a physical cleanup in March each year for two weeks, involving 2000 volunteers, as well as including the universities of Oxford and Oxford Brookes. OxClean is now collaborating with the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award for young people volunteering, to include a cleanup project in their award program for adolescents.
Rosanne will tell us how she got the inspiration (hence the whimsical title) to begin this program after retirement from her career, to give us her insights into the problems of litter in England, and also her thoughts on applications to effective volunteerism in Argentina.
Please RSVP to u.w.c.cont.ed@gmail.com , and then you will be sent the Zoom link to participate. If you have any questions about the Zoom or talk, please contact Melodye at her WhatsApp number (1151608010) or by the Cont Ed email.
Hope that you will be able to attend, for a lively discussion on inspiration and the dedication thereafter to make the idea reality!
