Continuing Education: The SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic - Making Sense in Times of Uncertainty

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has upended the world as we know it. This coronavirus is a new infectious disease, and because of this, experts are scrambling to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible, but there are as yet many unknowns. Scientists, health care workers, public health officials and governments are trying to balance the minimization of high risk infections with economic needs without much data. In this talk, I will establish the knowns and unknowns about this virus, and then go on to look at the implications for personal health, health services, economic, social and political decision making as this pandemic unfolds.

Our speaker is a graduate of Birkbeck College, University of London, BSc Psychology, and the Shell Leadership course, Institute for Management Development (IMD) Switzerland.

Continuing Education: Zoom Videoconference Training Session

To help more of you to become familiar with Zoom before our monthly UWC luncheon on next Wednesday April 29th (don’t forget to RSVP), we will have a Cont. Ed. session on using Zoom. Three of our members who have been using Zoom in their work and personal lives have generously volunteered to give tips and help all of us become quickly comfortable with this new tool.  Ann Noguer, Joanna Richardson, Gwendolyn Diaz-Ridgeway, and Masako Kano will discuss their experiences with Zoom, and help with any questions that the tutorials haven’t answered for you. This should make our first luncheon event run more smoothly, as you learn how to join, participate and leave a meeting. As you become more familiar with Zoom, you will maximize your enjoyment of the talks and activities that will be scheduled online. Zoom will allow us to stay connected, despite our inability to share an actual lunch together! RSVP at u.w.c.cont.ed@gmail.com (or 11 5160810)
