Healing with Horses — Nadine Bell, Equine Therapist and Coach
RSVP for Zoom meeting details to u.w.c.cont.ed@gmail.com
Welcome to another year of UWC’s Continuing Education program! As we enter this new year, the pandemic seems to be ebbing finally and hopefully we will be able to soon meet in person. Our first meeting will be hybrid, with those of you able to attend in person welcome to come, but others can attend virtually via Zoom.
We will start off with a talk on how animals (specifically horses) can help us connect with our authentic selves. Nadine Bell, an equine therapist and coach, will introduce us to the special connection that humans have developed with horses, and how this relationship can help us understand ourselves and heal. Equine therapy is relatively new, only a few decades in practice, but its success as a therapy for adolescents and people with disabilities has resulted in its application to executive coaching, couples therapy, and sports coaching. Nadine will present the history of hippotherapy, using horses in a medicinal role, and then explain how working with horses can help us deal with our own problems. Particularly after these complicated years, an afternoon with the wisdom of a “horse whisperer” may be just what the doctor orders!
Please RSVP at u.w.c.cont.ed@gmail.com, or contact Melodye Rooney at 11 5160 8010. Specify whether you would like to attend in person, or via Zoom. The location will be in Belgrano. Looking forward to our first meeting of 2022!
About Our Speaker
Nadine Bell began her relationship with horses at an early age with her grandfather Alec Bell, a polo player, who taught her everything related to the care and handling of horses. During her adolescence she learned to jump and play polo, but her true passion was horsemanship. In 1982 she began her formal work with horses as therapeutic animals. She has explored and developed several important activities aimed at improving people's quality of life through interaction with horses.
In 2000 she created her first Equine Therapy center in Argentina, bringing this activity to the country by creating her company EL BINOMIO. She also formed Mobile Equine Therapy in Latin America in 2002, taking horses to provide equine therapy to over 100 children and adults with disabilities at the Cottolengo del Don Orione in San Miguel.
