French Conversation: Cultural Importance and Foundations of Happiness
After a July hiatus we shall reconvene on Zoom to discuss the political and cultural importance and foundations of happiness. This is also the topic chosen by UWC’s August luncheon speaker. The search for a fitting image for this theme was already an excursion into the cultural variability of “happiness:” While key words in German and French resulted in mostly sad looking images of famous people by the last names of “Glück” and “Bonheur,” and in some book covers on the topic, English “happiness,” Italian “felicità” and Spanish “felicidad” produced appropriate emojis and pictures galore.
Therefore, don’t worry, be happy and join us for what will promise to be lively, witty and thoughtful presentations and discussions of what it means to be happy and how policies should be shaped to achieve this on behalf of us law abiding, tax paying citizens.
If you wish to participate and receive the zoom invitation 24 hours prior to the event, please email Barbara Grünenfelder-Elliker at uwc.frenchconversation@gmail.com by Friday, August 19th, 2022.
