French Conversation -- Life and Works of Marc Chagall

  • Zoom Video Conference Platform CABA Argentina (map)

French Conversation starts Monday, March 25th via zoom at 3PM Buenos Aires with a discussion of Chagall’s work, life, and masterpieces. Four links to websites provide short introductions to two different exhibitions, one in Spain (1), the other in Southern France (2), followed by  “artnet’s” visual compilation of works (3). Finally, link no. (4) leads to the website of Zurich’s Fraumünster Cathedral which sports 6 painted windows, late works of Marc Chagall finished in the 1970s.

Participants will be privy to a “juicy” detail regarding how the Zurich protestants with their tight purse-strings “negotiated" with Marc Chagall.

Our group of intermediate and advances speakers welcome new UWC participants, including beginners, whom Barbara is happy to coach in their reading-comprehension and pronunciation skills. Beginners are encouraged to log into the zoom session 15 mins early, in order to practice a short “statement” on the monthly topic of discussion.

Those new to the group, wishing to participate for the first time, please contact activity leader Barbara Grünenfelder at  uwc.frenchconversation@gmail.com by Friday, March 22nd, 2024 to receive the zoom link.

The group meets every fourth Monday of the month. At the end of each session a proposal for the next meeting's discussion topic is selected/solicited, and pertinent articles in French are sent out by Barbara a week prior to the meeting.
