Argentina’s Strategic Interest and the Emergence of a New International Order

Argentina is going through difficult times. The appearance of the covid-19 pandemic, a more complex international scenario than we are accustomed to, the lack of consensus within the country and a leadership that lacks a vision for the country have placed us at a crossroads.
Faced with this reality, we first of all need to be clear about the nature of the challenges we face and then devise new paths forward accordingly. What strategy should Argentina follow to become fully inserted in the new international order? What position should we adopt vis-à-vis the strategic confrontation between China and the USA? What can we do to overcome our institutional deficits? How can we take advantage of the opportunities offered by technological advances? How do we start thinking along strategic lines?
De Santibañes is the author of "Argentina and the World: Steps for Successful Integration" (EDICON, 2016), "When Nations Revolt: the Crisis of Liberalism and the Rise of Popular Conservatism" (Vértice de Ideas, 2019) and "Argentina in the Storm" (Vértice de Ideas, 2021). He has published articles in journals such as "Armed Forces & Society", "Comparative Strategy" and "Survival", and reports in think tanks like CSIS and IISS. De Santibañes holds an MA in international relations from SAIS Johns Hopkins and has pursued doctoral studies at the Department of War Studies, Kings College London.
