Writers’ Workshop
The Writers’ Workshop meets on the first Tuesday every month to either share and discuss our work, join the lively, constructive conversations or create through teamwork.
Hosted by our Honorary Member (for her long-term contributions to the UWC) Shaké Balian, the workshop has been active for 27 years. It is a warm and inviting group in which to develop your talents and find new friends who enjoy writing and learning new methods.
Please join Shaké and the other participants each month. If you have an article to share, contact Shaké beforehand, or bring it along; you don’t need to have a contribution, just your desire to collaborate.
To join the workshop call or write to Shaké Balian at 4786-6193 or shakebalian@hotmail.com.
June Writers’ Workshop
The June Writer's Workshop was well attended, and several poems, a satirical piece, and two original short stories were read and discussed. The poems were Fire and Ice, by Robert Frost, and Essere by Shaké Balian. The satirical piece was Queen Elizabeth's speech to US citizens, offering to restore British rule to the US. Members shared "Pitsch" a humorous short piece and "La Mina and her Milonga" a short story printed in the Scribblers section of the July 2021 edition of UWC Bulletin. We enjoyed the literature and the points of view; next month the US rebuttal to the Queen's offer might be forthcoming!
