UWC Meets Teatro Colón: "Nabucco" by Verdi
The opera season at the Colón will open March 17th, yes, the same day of the first luncheon of the year. Opening night will present Verdi's "Nabucco". Elena Levin, our guide through the operatic world, has commitments that prevent her from having the Monday meeting before opening night. She needs to know if there will be sufficient audience to schedule the meeting for Monday March 23rd. Please let me know so everyone reserves the date on their calendar. - Mariel
UWC Meets Teatro Colón: “The Tales of Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach
The last meeting of 2019 of the UWC Meets Teatro Colón fans will be Monday December 16 at 3 PM. The topic will be Jacques Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffmann”. The French libretto was written by Jules Barbier, based on three short stories by E. T. A. Hoffman, who is the protagonist of the story. The opera opens November 29th at the Teatro Colon.
UWC Meets Teatro Colón: “Orfeo and Euridice” by Gluck
UWC Meets Teatro Colón will meet on Monday November 4 at 3pm. The topic will be Gluck’s opera “Orfeo and Euridice”, premiered in 1760. It will open November 8 at the Teatro Colón. As usual Elena Levin will guide us through the experience.
